2022 has been an amazing year, our 2021 Cat of the Year show was finally held in March in Katikati and was
very successful thanks to Chris and her great organisational skills and many years of show management.
After the on again off again 2021 was, it was wonderful to be able to finally hold our Cat Of the Year 2021.

We had a great turnout of exhibitors. and fantastic major sponsors right down to every little prize and
service that was donated by all the wonderful people who support our club.

Despite running the show closed to the public it was a great opportunity for exhibitors to spend time
together sharing the hobby which means so much to them.

We have held our AGM recently and our Management Committee remains the same.. Many thanks to very
hard working and innovative people at the helm.

We then shifted all our gear down to Napier to hold our ‘ Cat of the Year 2022’ in the Bay and the turnout
was absolutely mindblowing, with a huge turnout from both our exhibitors and the public who were starved
for a Cat Show. (more about this show further on)

We are working toward another show in the Bay, this time in Hastings on Saturday 15th April 2023 and
Gaynor and the Team are presently negotioting Venues etc.  and AGAIN intend to hold our ‘ Cat of the Year
2023’ show back in the Bay of Plenty in September 2023... SO Watch this space!!

We have received many new applications for membership. Our membership numbers are on the increase,
and we are thrilled at the new members who have joined our club… Welcome to you all, we hope you
all enjoy being with us and that some of you will get involved with our show committee and show

SHOW NEWS

‘CAT OF THE YEAR’ SHOW 2022
4th September 2022.

Patches and pointed Inc was traditionally a Hawke’s Bay Club, however the shifting of some of our key show management members up north meant that our shows should follow them.
We made the decision this year to return a show to the Hawke’s Bay region after 12 years since the last show was held in the bay, and numerous enquiries from the public asking for another show, and it was a very good decision.

Advertising was placed on two well-known Napier Facebook pages, and from these we were contacted from both the Newspaper and Radio Station for interviews.
Hawkes Bay was excited to see the show back, and the Door sales certainly proved it… the public was lined up from the moment we opened, through the carpark and down the road waiting to view our gorgeous cats. Door sales and raffle collected was a great boost and a nest egg to go towards our next two shows in 2023.

Our Cat of the Year prizes were fantastic, and we added a bottle of perfume for the owners that was the shape of a high healed shoe, hence the Cat in the Shoe design.
We added a new COTY section to this show, ‘Breeder of the Year’ and we were so fortunate to have Orivet donate three $150 Vouchers to be used for DNA testing, so we awarded the Breeder, Runner-up and third Breeder of the year these prizes. Another first for our Club.

We are working towards our April show back here in Hawke’s Bay (Hastings this time), ‘Strike while the irons hot,’ (as the saying goes), which we will present as ‘Deco City Cats’ and go for a Deco theme.
Being supported by our fabulous sponsors for both shows, Nestle (Proplan) for their fabulous contribution of product, Elanco (advocate), Micromed (Spray-on Probiotics) and new sponsors to the September show Odorex (sanitizer) Hippo Health, Pet Cover (advertising) Conroy Removals (who transported all our gear from Katikati to Napier free of charge).

No show can run without the assistance of the many helpers who contribute their time on the day, many are not club or committee members but enthusiastic exhibitors who chip in to assist as scribes, handlers, stewards, runners, photographers etc. They are invaluable to the success of
our shows.

A huge amount of work goes into the management of a club, not just in the running of a show but the everyday background management of the club itself and we need to acknowledge the excellent effort that Chris Lowe contributes on a day-to-day basis.
Our website and Facebook pages are continuing to be an excellent source of communication, we try to keep both medias updated as often as possible.

CAGES
Over the last two years shows we have sold off most of our cages, to clubs, exhibitors etc, and have kept approximately 30 for hire to those who do not own a cage or are flying to our shows and cannot transport their own cages. We did notice that many of our exhibitors chose to hire cages who we know already owned a cage at Napier which put us under huge pressure feeling we were going
to be short and had to ask some of our exhibitors to bring extras to make up the numbers…
We will be advising everyone in future that we really need everyone to bring their own cages who have them.

On a lighter note, Christmas is just around the corner and everyone will be gearing up to spending quality time with family and friends over the Christmas break....

The Patches and Pointed team wish you all a fabulous safe and happy Christmas and New Year...

Have yourself a meowry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on all doggies will be out of sight.

Have yourself a meowry little Christmas Eat catnip till you sway
From now on all doggies will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days Fluffy golden days of fur,
Faithful kitties quite dear to us Gather near to us and purr.

Through the years we all will be together If the fates allow
Hang a shining star - so we can rip it from the bough
And have yourself a meowry little Christmas now

Here’s a little song for you all to enjoy... From our Fur Babies to Your’s...
